I came here for the first time 19 years ago, in 1989 to visit my daughter.  I came for a vacation and never left. At that time I was living in Carricitos beach and fell in love with the area. I have lived in Sayulita ever since.

5.  Family history & information?  I live alone in Sayulita. My daughter lives in Puerto Vallarta with her son to be close to the school my grandson attends. On the weekends they both come to stay with me in Sayulita.

6. Employment/buiness history: Once I decided to stay in Sayulita, I realized that I needed a job. I knew that I was a good chef and I knew that Sayulita needed a good cup of coffee. That is how Choco Banana was created. Our first location was where the Red Dragon now is, shortly after that we moved to our current location by the plaza. Today I still home bake all of the muffins, breads, salsas and cakes for Choco Banana.

7.  One positive change you have seen in Sayulita?  I am very happy to see that Valle (the Municipal) has become more aware of Sayulita and of the needs of our community. It is also great to see the Mexican community and the foreign community working together to make positive changes like the new sewer system, the new roads, etc. The community of Sayulita is working together to make a better village for everyone.

8.  One negative change you have seen in Sayulita:  The parking in Sayulita is a problem; there is never anywhere to park. I believe that both sides of the street should be available for parking, not just one. Also many of the businesses are taking up parking places for their tables, chairs, signs, etc. this also causes parking problems. " I want it like the old days, when you could park in the middle of the street."

9. How do you imagine Sayulita in 10 years? "I hope I am around to see Sayulita in 10 years." I would like to see the downtown area as a "pedway" A pedestrian only area with outside tables and chairs - just like Spain.

10  Do you have a recommendation for the people of Sayulita? "United we stand, divided we fall." In the past few years Sayulita as a community has done wonderful work with children, involving the schools with projects such as recycling. Already you can see the difference. We can make a difference through the children.
