As El Sayulero is now almost too big for an actual email, look forward to a few changes in our layout over the next couple of weeks.

Men's Journal gave us a nice plug as a place to vacation without spending a lot of dough. Plus, it appears that FOX TV is going to broadcast some sort of Sayulita-related travel episode this weekend.  Sayulita is on the verge of high season, with some roads still under construction, some close to finishing and some yet to be detrmined. Road construction can be a complication for visitors and residents of Sayulita, this article will help explain the current road construction projects in Sayulita in hopes to minimize the inconvenience.
Calle Miramar, running from Avenida Revolucion to the beach, is currently under construction about a block and a half from the beach, blocking traffic at different times of the day. For the next few weeks it is best to choose a different road when heading to the beach or the North end.
 Additionaly, two blocks of Calle Playa Azul, are currently blocked off to automobiles. The approximate finishing date is not known at this point, but construction seems to be consistently moving forward.
The project that has developed the fastest is on Calle Maunuel Navarrete which is headed by foreman Antonio Muniz (pictured above), who has been in charge of this project from the begining. His plan is to not block the complete street, as he has seen other companies do, but close half of it to work and let the public use the other half.
Looking to the future, when all of the road constrcution is done Sayulita will be an even more beautiful village with palm tree lined paved streets for all to enjoy.

Su plan es no bloquear la calle completa, que ha visto como lo hacen otras empresas, pero cerca de la mitad de la misma al trabajo y dejar que el uso público de la otra mitad.

The coming week brings us two fabulous chances to do just that.
On Thursday November 19, Punta Sayulita is hosting a Sea Turtle Symposium, starting at 4:30 PM. The presentation will include a talk and slideshow on marine turtle preservation efforts in the Rivera Nayarit, and how we as individuals can help sea turtles survive and thrive. Permitting there are hatchlings ready, there will be a chance to release baby turtles into the sea - an unforgettable experience at any age.
 Friday November 20 is Revolution Day - the Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution of 1910, in which Emilio Zapata and Pancho Villa led the people in overthrowing Dictator Porfirio Diaz. This revolution eventually led to the formation of the Ejido and the re-distribution of the country's lands from the wealthy to the peasants. In Sayulita, this national holiday is celebrated with a morning parade through the center of town. School children outfitted in traditional dress - bandoliers, rifles, and moustaches for the boys; peasant tops, brightly colored skirts, and baby-dolls in slings for the girls - perform marches and folkloric dances in front of the plaza. So do a little research on the Mexican Revolution, then head out with the family for a fun history lesson on the town.
My Fall Favorites this week have been: Saturday night at the San Pancho Polo Club; catching a wave at Anclote; picking wildflowers for Maximo to hand out to the ladies.

El jueves 19 de noviembre, Punta Sayulita está organizando un Simposio de Tortugas Marinas, a partir de las 4:30 PM. La presentación incluirá una lectura y fotos sobre los esfuerzos de conservación de tortugas marinas en la Rivera Nayarit, y cómo nosotros, como individuos, pueden ayudar a las tortugas marinas a sobrevivir y prosperar. Permitir que hay crías listo, habrá una oportunidad para liberar las tortugas bebé en el mar - una experiencia inolvidable a cualquier edad.

Have you been enjoying the shiny sun and warm weather lately in Sayulita? Have you been sweating a lot? WATCH OUT! Because you might also be dehydrating!
This last month I've noticed that 9 out of 10 patients coming to consultation where having some degree of dehydration that actually worsened the symptoms of the different illnesses they were having, and instead of having 2-3 days of recovery they went up to 5-7 days.
How would you notice you are having dehydration?
One or more of the following symptoms might appear: thirst, discomfort, dry skin, dry mouth, dry lips, headache, loss of appetite, dizziness, muscle cramps, constipation, decreased urine volume, insomnia, and they can become as severe as seizures, loss of consciousness, fainting, and death.
Dehydration comes when we have a reduced water consumption and an increase in the loss of it (sweating, sun exposure, exercise, fever, diarrhea, vomit, etc). And remember that not just water but electrolytes are also lost.
This is an issue that can be easily prevented and solved just by drinking enough plain water and electrolytes, and sorry, but tequila and beer doesn't count.
I encourage you to keep enjoying our nice and beautiful town with enough water in your body. Salud!
Sayulita Healthy tip of the week: Drink 2-3 liters of plain water a day and at least on bottle of liquid electrolytes (Pedialyte/Electrolit/Gatorade) that can be easily found in grocery stores and pharmacies in town.

Has estado disfrutando el sol y el clima calido de Sayulita ultimamente? Has estado sudando? TEN CUIDADO! Porque podrías estar deshidratándote!
En este mes, 9 de cada 10 pacientes que vinieron a consulta, tenían cierto grado de deshidratación, lo cual empeoro los síntomas de sus diversos padecimientos, y en lugar de tener 2-3 dias de recuperación se fueron a 5-7 dias.
Como puedes notar que te estas deshidratando?
Puedes tener uno o mas de los siguientes síntomas: sed, incomodidad, piel seca, boca seca, labios secos, dolor de cabeza, perdida del apetito, mareo, calambres musculares, estreñimiento, volumen disminuido de orina, insomnio, y se pueden agravar e incluso tener convulsiones, perdida del conocimiento, desmayos y la muerte.
La deshidratación aparece cuando tenemos un consumo disminuido de agua y un aumento en la perdida de la misma (por sudor, exposición solar, ejercicio, fiebre, diarrea, vomito, etc) y recuerda que no solo perdemos agua, también perdemos electrolitos.
Entonces, este es un problema que se previene y resuelve fácilmente simplemente tomando suficiente agua y electrolitos, y lo sentimos pero el tequila y la cerveza no cuentan.
Te invito a que sigas disfrutando de nuestro bello y querido pueblo con suficiente agua en tu cuerpo. Salud!
Tip saludable de la semana: Toma de 2 a 3 litros de agua pura diariamente y cuando menos una botella de electrolitos liquidos (Pedialyte/Electrolit/Gatorade) que puedes encontrar fácilmente en farmacias y tiendas de Sayulita

1. Where are you originally from? I spent most of my life in various areas of British Columbia, or B.C., Canada. My husband Guy and I currently live on 10 acres in Clearwater, Canada.

3. When did you decide to spend winters in Sayulita? In 2007, my husband Guy and I spent a month in Sayulita and decided it was a magical place. We felt that in order to become more a part of the community, we would need to spend more time here. Since then we have been coming down to Sayulita for five moth periods.

4. Family History? I have one brother named Bruce who is 52 years old and lives in Gibson's Landing on the sunshine coast of B.C. I met my husband Guy Kember through mutual friends on Vancouver Island in 2000. In 2002 we decided to get married and moved to Clearwater in 2003 where we bought our property.

After graduating from college I taught half of the year at a middle school and the other half I spent working as a chef for various mining companies. Cominco was the biggest and most well known in the mining industry. I have worked for mining exploration camps in areas such as the High Arctic, the Yukon, B.C. and in the Sierra Madres, outside of a little town called Teloloapan in Mexico.

7. What are some of your hobbies? My husband and I own a company in Canada called The Purple Ox. There we practice Gardening, Mosaic Arts, Handy Crafts and we also make various canned goods, natural healing saves and creams.

 8. How do you spend your time in Sayulita? Both my husband Guy and I have worked closely with various charitable organizations including Sayulita Recycling, we are very conscious of the environment. We volunteered for the Turtle Project in San Pancho, helped raise money for the new computer lab at the public middle school and are very involved with Grupo Pro Sayulita or GPS, which is a major charitable organization for the community of Sayulita. 9. Can you share an interesting story of your life with our readers? While I was working for a mining camp in northern B.C. they first flew me in by helicopter where it was cloudy and drizzling. My first impression of the camp was one of dread. The camp itself faces the north side and is situated on a bunch of fallen trees. When I first stepped out of the helicopter, the first words from my new boss were," Here, keep this with you wherever you go". He then handed me a loaded, sawed-off, 12 gauge shotgun. I practiced with it and fortunately never had to use it.
9. ¿Puede compartir una historia interesante de su vida con nuestros lectores? Mientras yo estaba trabajando para un campamento minero en el norte de BC se me voló por primera vez en helicóptero en el que estaba nublado y lloviznando. Mi primera impresión del campo era de terror. El campamento en sí se enfrenta a la parte norte y está situada en un montón de árboles caídos. La primera vez que salió del helicóptero, las primeras palabras de mi nuevo jefe, fueron: "Aquí, mantener con usted dondequiera que vayas". Luego me entregó una carga, recortada, escopeta calibre 12. Practiqué con ella y, afortunadamente, nunca ha tenido que usarlo.
10. What is you favorite part of Sayulita? I like to be able to safely walk through the "river" and explore the various neighborhoods Sayulita has to offer. I really like the positive energy from the central part of town. I also really enjoy simply spending time with my husband on a quiet part of the beach, as well as seeing old friends and having dinner parties.
10. ¿Qué es la parte favorita de Sayulita usted? Me gusta ser capaz de caminar con seguridad a través de "río" y explorar los diversos barrios Sayulita tiene para ofrecer. 11. How do you see the future of Sayulita? I feel that because Sayulita has such a unique connection with North America that soon new and innovative ideas and projects will be introduced to the community. This could include anything from solar power, a more dependable water supply, to a greater awareness of the environment, making the community more and more eco-friendly.
