What do you get when you mix wine lovers from all of the world, cases of fabulous Mexican and California made wines, gourmet food, fantastic music and an unbeatable location? The First Annual Sayulita Wine Festival was a sold out, stunning success. The opening event was held at Teitiare Estate, a magnificent private villa on a cliff over looking the sea and sold out to an international crowd.

People from as far away as Australia, British Colombia, Mexico City and New York gathered under the stars, glasses in hand to savor wines from all over Mexico and Seasmoke from California's Central Coast as well as Mezcal Real Minero, from Oaxaca   It was an opportunity to experience the best restaurants in the region: Imanta, Bistro Orgánico, Don Pedro's and Haramara who prepared their delights using local ingredients from the region. The local Sayulita community of wine and food lovers also united to support the Sayulita Wine Festival organized by Sayulita Wine Shop and Hotel Cielo Rojo in collaboration with Nicoella Events.

People danced the night away to live jazz and a DJ set of cumbia, salsa and Latin-based music. All who attended had the opportunity to meet and speak with the winemakers. They learned that Mexico has been making wine in the Americas longer than Napa as the vineyards were planted by the Jesuits in 1554. One of the many goals of the festival was to encourage awareness of Mexican wines and to celebrate their unique beauty and taste.

For those that were not able to attend the events during the preliminary year of this inspiring new festival, this promises to be an annual event not to be missed.  Additionally, all of the wines and mezcal featured at the festival are available for purchase at the Sayulita Wine Shop in Sayulita.
