Sayulita Life’s March Donation: Jaibitos Little League Bus Fundraiser

At Sayulita Life, we believe that supporting the community that supports us is one of the most important things we can do. Each month, Sayulita Life donates $5,000 pesos to a local initiative through our Sayulita Life Gives Back program.

This month’s donation supported the Jaibitos Little League Sayulita Bus Fundraiser, a community event held last weekend to help raise funds for a future team bus that will transport young players to their games throughout the region.

The second annual Jaibitos Golf Fundraiser was a great success, bringing together golfers, sponsors, and supporters from across the area. This year’s event welcomed 44 golfers—an increase from last year—and several new sponsors, showing once again how strongly the community rallies behind Sayulita’s youth.

Organizers shared that while final numbers are still being calculated, the fundraiser raised more than last year’s event, thanks to the generosity of participants and supporters.

The support extended beyond Sayulita as well, with golfers traveling from Rincón de Guayabitos and La Peñita to participate. In fact, it was a Rincón team that took home the tournament win, highlighting the regional spirit behind supporting the Jaibitos.

About the Jaibitos Little League

Founded in 2016, the Jaibitos of Sayulita is a community baseball program focused on developing young athletes ages 5 to 14.

Under the leadership of coach Pedro Navarro, the program provides local kids with the opportunity to build discipline, teamwork, and confidence through sports. Pedro’s dedication to the team and the kids he mentors has inspired many in the community to step forward and help support the program.

Why a Bus Matters

One of the biggest challenges facing the team is transportation.

The Jaibitos compete in the Liga Tepic Nayarit, traveling throughout northern Nayarit to places like:

• Santa María del Oro
• Amatlán de Cañas
• Tepic
• Tuxpan

Many of these trips require over three hours of travel one way.

Currently, families split the cost of hiring taxi vans for away games, which can be financially difficult for many parents. A dedicated team bus would allow more kids to participate while ensuring safe and reliable transportation.

Continued Needs

Thanks to generous donations from members of the community, the team currently has much of the equipment they need. However, some needs remain:

Uniforms for the upcoming 2025–2026 season
Baseball shoes, which are always in demand as kids quickly outgrow them

A Community Effort

The golf tournament was organized by a group of Canadian and American expats who have become friends with Coach Pedro and the team. Inspired by his dedication, they decided to help organize an event that could make a meaningful impact.

Local businesses donated prizes for the silent auction, sponsored tee boxes, and helped spread the word throughout the community.

The result was a fun and successful day of golf, fundraising, and community connection—all in support of Sayulita’s young athletes.

Looking Ahead

Organizers hope the Jaibitos Golf Fundraiser will become an annual tradition, helping raise funds each year toward the long-term goal of purchasing a team bus.

Investing in the children of Sayulita helps strengthen the entire community, ensuring local youth have opportunities to grow, compete, and thrive.
