Luxury, Golf & Nature: Meet Mandarina Golf Club
Just a few minutes north of Sayulita, an ultra-luxury project is redefining what golf means on the Riviera Nayarit. Mandarina Golf Club is no traditional club — it’s an experience where tropical jungle, the Pacific Ocean, and world-class hospitality come together into something entirely new. We sat down with their General Manager to learn about the vision behind the club, its connection to the region, and where modern luxury in Mexico is headed.
Let’s Start With You…
Can you tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to Nayarit?
I’m the General Manager of Mandarina Golf Club, and I’ve devoted a large part of my career to the golf and luxury hospitality industry in Mexico. What brought me to this region was the opportunity to be part of a truly unique project: creating a different kind of golf experience — more intimate, more connected to nature, and more aligned with the Riviera Nayarit lifestyle.
What inspired you to be part of this project here?
Mandarina represents a new generation of ultra-luxury destinations in Mexico. The inspiration comes from creating experiences that feel authentic, relaxed, and sophisticated all at once. Golf here isn’t lived in the traditional sense — it’s lived as an extension of the nature, gastronomy, wellness, and adventure that define this place.
What’s something most people don’t know about your story or journey?
Although much of my career has been focused on operations and hospitality, I originally come from a very competitive background as a golfer. That taught me discipline and attention to detail, but it also helped me understand that true luxury today is about how you make people feel.

About the Business
What makes Mandarina Golf Club unique?
Mandarina Golf Club offers a golf experience completely unlike the traditional one. Our 10-hole course designed by Greg Norman is naturally integrated between tropical jungle, mountains, and Pacific Ocean views. More than a golf club, we aim to create a relaxed, fun, and highly curated experience for guests and visitors.
How would you describe the vibe or spirit of the place?
The vibe at Mandarina Golf Club is sophisticated yet relaxed. We want guests to feel freedom, connection with nature, and genuine hospitality. Luxury here doesn’t feel rigid — it feels warm, natural, and experiential.
Is there an experience that’s especially close to your heart?
Definitely our new All-Inclusive Golf Experience. It integrates golf, cocktails, curated gastronomy, comfort stations, and personalized service into one seamless experience. It perfectly represents where we believe modern luxury is headed: more complete, more effortless, and more memorable.

Connection to the Community
What does being part of the Sayulita community mean to you?
Although Mandarina is located a few minutes north of Sayulita, we feel a very close connection to the entire region. Sayulita represents creativity, authenticity, and a relaxed energy that has helped position Riviera Nayarit as one of Mexico’s most special destinations.
Do you collaborate with local artisans, organizations, or causes?
Yes, we’re constantly looking to integrate local talent, regional products, and authentic experiences into the Mandarina ecosystem. From gastronomy to hospitality and cultural experiences, we strongly believe in uplifting the talent of this region.
How do you see your business giving back to the community?
Through employment, responsible tourism, and collaborations with local suppliers and talent. We also believe that elevating the international profile of Riviera Nayarit benefits the entire community and creates new opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Personal + Fun
What’s your favorite way to spend a morning in Sayulita?
Very early, before everything fully wakes up. Having coffee near the ocean, walking around, and simply soaking in the relaxed vibe of the town.
Is there a scent or memory that captures the essence of Sayulita for you?
The smell of the ocean mixed with tropical jungle after the rain. I think that combination perfectly sums up the essence of this part of Nayarit.
Share a local recommendation.
More than one single place, I’d recommend exploring without rushing. Riviera Nayarit has so many incredible corners — beaches, food, surf, nature, and small local businesses that make the experience truly special.
Looking Ahead
What’s next for you and Mandarina Golf Club?
We’re entering a very exciting phase for Mandarina Golf Club and for the destination as a whole. We’ll continue evolving the golf experience with new concepts focused on hospitality, wellness, and more integrated luxury experiences.
Any upcoming events, new offerings, or exciting plans to share?
Yes — we recently launched our new All-Inclusive Golf Experience concept, which redefines the traditional golf outing by integrating gastronomy, drinks, and premium service into a more relaxed and experiential format. We also have new events, tournaments, and important collaborations coming up for the club.
