Sayulita Life’s Featured Business: Osoley; Turning Air into Water

Sayulita is home to many entrepreneurs with a deep love for nature and community—and Amandine, founder of Osoley, is no exception. Originally from France, she brings a fresh, sustainable solution to town with atmospheric water generators that create clean drinking water from air. Her mission? To help Sayulita reduce plastic waste and embrace self-sufficiency, one drop at a time.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to Sayulita?
My name is Amandine, I’m originally from France, and I spent the last two years living in Tahiti, where I launched a sustainability-focused business. Sayulita has always held a special place in my heart—my parents have lived here for eight years, and I wanted to be closer to them while living in a vibrant, nature-connected community.

What inspired you to start this business here?
I discovered atmospheric water generators in Tahiti—an amazing technology that produces drinking water from the humidity in the air. When I arrived in Sayulita, I immediately saw how this solution could meet local needs. What’s unique about these generators is that they don’t tap into natural resources—they generate clean water from the air without depleting aquifers or producing plastic waste.

What’s something most people don’t know about your story or journey?
Most people don’t know that I started this venture with no technical background—just a strong passion for protecting the planet and bringing practical, sustainable solutions to island and coastal communities.

What makes your business unique in Sayulita?
We’re introducing a technology that’s still relatively unknown here—producing clean, plastic-free water directly from the air. It’s a sustainable and innovative solution that fits perfectly with Sayulita’s eco-conscious spirit.

How would you describe the vibe or spirit of your place/product/service?
Positive, purpose-driven, and forward-thinking. My goal is to offer something useful and sustainable to the community, while keeping it accessible to everyone.

Is there a product, dish, or experience that’s especially close to your heart and why?
Yes—the compact home generator. It allows families to produce their own drinking water at home, completely independently. It’s a step toward greater freedom and sustainability.

What does being part of the Sayulita community mean to you?
It’s a privilege. Sayulita is a magical place with a close-knit, vibrant community. I want to be fully involved and help preserve the unique balance between nature and village life.

How do you see your business supporting or giving back to Sayulita?
By reducing the need for single-use plastic bottles, raising awareness around water sustainability, and offering real, local alternatives for homes, businesses, and community events.

What’s your favourite way to spend a morning in Sayulita?
Sunrise yoga followed by a quiet coffee on a terrace while watching the village wake up.

What’s one song, scent, or memory that captures Sayulita for you?
The sound of the waves early in the morning and the smell of warm sand after the rain—it perfectly captures Sayulita’s peaceful rhythm.

What’s next for you and your business?
I want to continue raising awareness about sustainable water solutions, install generators in more homes and businesses, and create local partnerships to expand our impact.

Any upcoming events, new products, or exciting plans to share?
I hope to host free public demonstrations of the generators soon, so that anyone can come and see how the technology works firsthand.

How can people support your work – especially those visiting Sayulita for the first time?
Come discover this technology, share the idea with others, and most importantly—reduce your plastic consumption while visiting.
