Mercado del Pueblo Reopens November 6 for Its 18th Season in Sayulita

Friday mornings in Sayulita are about to get a whole lot better. The Mercado del Pueblo, Sayulita’s local farmers market, opens its 18th season on Friday, November 6.

If you’ve been, you know it’s more than a place to buy vegetables. It’s where you run into friends, catch up on the latest chisme, listen to live music and get a feel for what’s happening in town. Over the years, Fridays at the Mercado have become a true Sayulita institution.

When to Go

  • Season: November to May (the local growing season)
  • Day: Every Friday
  • Hours: 10 am to 2 pm
  • Opening day: Friday, November 6, 2026

The Mercado focuses on local food, fresh vegetables, health care products and artisan goods, all hand-selected for quality and variety. With about 75 vendors, there’s a little something for everyone:

  • Energy balls and dumplings
  • Cheeses
  • Natural medicines and cosmetics
  • Handmade clothing
  • Art

The more you look, the more you find.

New This Season

This year, the Mercado is adding a few new favorites to the lineup:

  • Bone broth
  • Organic meats
  • Artisan marmalades
  • Weavings

The First Market in the Bay

Here’s a fun bit of history: the Mercado del Pueblo was the first local market in the Bahía de Banderas. After it got started, the Mercado team worked with local government and communities to build an entire market system that supports local growers and craftspeople, keeping local food local and handmade goods available in our towns.

Today, you can find a local market almost any day of the year somewhere around the bay.

A Market That Gives Back

The Mercado del Pueblo is the only local market in the area committed to staying a not-for-profit organization. Every year, it donates all of its proceeds to local organizations and community events.

So when you pick up your weekly veggies or a handmade gift, you’re also helping support the community.

Tips for Visitors

If you’re in Sayulita on vacation, the Mercado is one of the easiest ways to experience everyday local life:

  • Go early for the best selection
  • Bring a reusable bag
  • Come hungry, there’s plenty to snack on
  • Take your time and chat with the growers and makers
