Mosaico Sayulita: Where Glass, Color & Community Come Together

Mosaico Sayulita: Where Glass, Color & Community Come Together

There’s a studio in Sayulita where mornings begin with colorful glass and tiles being cut and arranged by hand — piece by piece — until something beautiful takes shape. That’s the everyday reality at Mosaico Sayulita, the only mosaic art studio in town, and one of the most heartfelt creative spaces you’ll find anywhere on the Riviera Nayarit.

A Family Art Form, 20 Years in the Making

Mosaico Sayulita is a family business in the truest sense. What began over 20 years ago in Oaxaca, Mexico as a stained glass and custom mosaic workshop has been passed down from mother to daughter — along with an unwavering love for the sea, the craft, and the people who encounter it.

“We are a family business where the art of mosaic has been passed down from mother to daughter, along with a deep love for the sea,” the family shares.

When they arrived in Sayulita, they found the perfect home for their craft — and a community hungry for exactly what they had to offer. What drew them here? The beach, yes. But more than that, the opportunity to share something they love deeply with people who were ready to receive it.

The Only Mosaic Studio in Sayulita

What makes Mosaico Sayulita unique isn’t just the technique — it’s the experience. They offer private and group mosaic classes for all ages, where participants design and create their own one-of-a-kind pieces using glass and tiles of every shape and color. No experience required. No two pieces ever the same.

“We guarantee you’ll spend a joyful time surrounded by laughter and color,” they say — and anyone who’s taken a class will tell you that’s not marketing. It’s simply true.

The studio draws people in through pure creative joy: cutting, arranging, and assembling under the guidance of artists who genuinely delight in watching others discover what they’re capable of making.

Beyond classes, Mosaico Sayulita also creates custom mosaic tile projects for interior and exterior decoration — from home installations to large-scale commercial murals. If you’ve ever stopped to admire a mosaic piece woven into a corner of Sayulita’s streets or buildings, their hands may very well have been behind it.

One look at their large-scale humpback whale installation — thousands of individual tiles composing a luminous, life-sized whale mid-dive — and you understand the scale and ambition of what this family is capable of.

Leaving Their Mark on Sayulita

“One experience especially close to our hearts has been leaving our mark in Sayulita and seeing more and more mosaic pieces created by us throughout different places in town, adding life and personality to the community.”

That’s what drives them: not just making beautiful objects, but embedding art into the fabric of a place they love. Every tile placed in a public space is a small act of community care — a gift that stays long after the artist’s hands have moved on.

They’ve collaborated with local causes to beautify public spaces, partnered with artists across disciplines, and created opportunities for children and adults alike to express themselves through art.

“Being part of the Sayulita community brings us great satisfaction. We want to help Sayulita continue to be the special place it has been throughout the years.”

What’s Next

The family isn’t slowing down. More artist collaborations, more mural projects, more ways to bring mosaic art to the people of Sayulita — and beyond.

“Many exciting things are coming,” they say, “including collaborations with more artists so we can continue sharing and teaching art in all its forms. And mural projects to keep beautifying Sayulita and its surroundings — and why not, the whole world!”
