Meet Baby’s Burgers: A Story of Nostalgia, Community & Perfect Burgers
If you’ve spent any time in Sayulita, chances are you’ve heard of (or already fallen in love with) Baby’s Burgers. It’s become a weekly staple for me and honestly, no dinner makes my 4-year-old happier. I find myself craving it just as much. My personal go-to? Not even on the menu: three patties over a bed of fries, topped with onions, pickles, and of course, that signature Baby’s sauce. It’s simple, nostalgic, and completely addictive. It’s comfort food at its best. Here’s the story behind the spot everyone keeps coming back to this local favorite.
Let’s start with you…
Can you tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to Sayulita?
The typical Sayulita story! I had an injury that temporarily took me out of work, so I came here on vacation… and I never left!
What inspired you to start this business here?
I was looking for a way to stay in paradise while also creating a space for the community. I wasn’t sure what kind of place it would be, but I knew I wanted something with a cultural mix—somewhere everyone could feel comfortable, with no pretensions.
What’s something most people don’t know about your story or background?
I was a large-animal veterinarian for seven years! I broke my hand, and that’s how I ended up in Sayulita.

About the Business
What makes your business unique in Sayulita?
The atmosphere! It’s casual—perfect for coming with friends, family, or a partner. We offer fast service and excellent-quality ingredients.
How would you describe the vibe or spirit of your place?
Burgers are one of those foods everyone thinks they’ve perfected, and that’s the magic of selling burgers. What I offer is exactly what, from my perspective, is perfect: bread that doesn’t get soggy, slightly sweet so it pairs perfectly with the fresh meat blend we prepare in-house. It’s simple, no vegetables, but with customization options. Don’t make me put salad on my little meat cookie!
It’s delicious, nostalgic, and a little hug from me to everyone. Whether you’re having a good day, a bad day, or a tired one—have a burger and a Coke and you reset. Haha.
Is there a product, dish, or experience that is especially close to your heart?
Having a burger business was actually my dad’s unfulfilled dream. Getting the chance to live that dream together is the best part of all.

Connection with the Community
What does it mean to you to be part of the Sayulita community?
It feels like home. Being able to get credit at the local shop, trading things with neighbors, seeing friends become collaborators—and the other way around. Being able to develop ideas together with other members of the community so easily. I love it.
I traveled a lot searching for what I’ve found here: this creative, diverse, ever-changing community, with that special “something” that can turn a normal day into an adventure you remember forever.
Do you collaborate with local artisans, organizations, or causes?
Right now we donate time and money to Sayulita Animals, and very soon we’ll launch an adoption promotion program called “Adopt Me Baby,” where you’ll be able to see dogs looking for a home—and there will be a burger reward for giving a loyal friend a new family.
How do you see your business supporting or giving back to the Sayulita community?
We work to create local jobs, collaborate with other local businesses, and involve the people who are part of everyday life in town. We also try to keep the spirit of Sayulita alive in our space: authentic, casual, and vibrant.
Personal + Fun
What’s your favorite way to spend a morning in Sayulita?
With my dogs on the north side of town, drinking a coffee made by Pollo at Anchor Café. A quick swim, and then off to work!
Is there a song, smell, or memory that captures the essence of Sayulita for you?
Bad Bunny!!!!!

Looking Toward the Future
What’s next for you and your business?
For now, we’re focusing on standardizing all our processes so we can eventually expand—possibly to Puerto Vallarta.
Any upcoming events or exciting plans?
The second edition of our burger-eating competition is coming soon! We’re also celebrating my birthday in collaboration with Aloha Bar. We’ll start using more local products—starting with pickles—and we’re currently looking for a baker. Plenty of fun ideas in the works!
