Featured Sayulita Business: El Arte Culinario Wedding and Events
I had the pleasure of speaking with Santiago and Tori, an Argentinian & Australian couple who have traveled the world chasing their love of food! They have started a wonderful catering business together, combining Tori’s knowledge of nutrition sciences and Santiago’s passion for food.
1. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Santiago first discovered his passion for flavors as a small child helping out in his family’s restaurant alongside his grandmother, while Tori found her love for sharing delicious, healthy food while studying nutrition sciences and baking for her friends and family.
2. How did you land in Sayulita?
Santiago was the first to land in Sayulita almost five years ago. After exploring much of Mexico, Santiago stumbled upon Sayulita hearing about a fun, surfy beach town with a great Argentinian expat community. Within days he was hooked. Tori arrived in 2020, looking for a new base to enjoy the beach, sunshine and practice her Spanish. Both fell in love with the Sayulita lifestyle and have called Sayu home ever since.
3. How long have you lived in Sayulita? What is your favorite part?
With almost 8 years living in Sayulita between Santiago and Tori, we both love the beach, the community and the incredible mix of Mexican and international cultures. Having recently welcomed a baby girl into El Arte Culinario family, we are so grateful for this special part of the world to raise our daughter and continue sharing our passion for good food!
4.Can you tell me about what inspired you to start your business?
El Arte Culinario was born shortly after Santiago finished culinary school in 2018. Having decided to take his new skills traveling through South America while chasing new flavours, techniques and ideas, Santiago quickly found his passion for sharing quality, delicious and unique flavors with the people he met along the way. Tori joined the Arte Culinario team in 2021 after meeting Santiago on the beach in San Pancho and recognizing their shared love for food (and falling in love with each other)! The pair now focus on creating unique, luxurious plates centered on the principles of great flavors, the highest quality produce and the best of Nayarit and beyond in each & every dish!
5.What does your business offer that separates it from the rest?
El Arte Culinario offers so much more than simple catering. Through our food we like to tell a story of flavours, culture and passion invoking all five of your senses. 6. Can you share a happy memory / funny story with a client?
We love meeting people from all over the world who also share a passion for food, just like a wonderful family we met in 2022 who were so intrigued by our stories of giant oysters in the remote town of Yelapa they rented a boat & invited us to sail across the bay with them the very next day. Of course we had a wonderful day enjoying the salty water, spotting whales and trying the oysters so big you have to slice them up to enjoy!
7. Is there anything special that you want to share?
Sayulita holds a special place in our family and in our hearts and we are always so grateful for the opportunity to share our home and all its magic. We take great pride in our work, forever striving to offer the best, most delicious and rewarding experiences to all of our clients ensuring so much more than a meal but an unforgettable culinary journey!
